The newest addition to the language department resources is the Firstvoices web site developed by the First Peoples Cultural Foundation in British Columbia. The site includes an extensive data base of languages from across Canada one of which is the Mi'kmaw Language. Activities include a word and phrase dictionary complete with multimedia content to assist in the delivery of the language. Interactive games are an important part of the learning process on Firstvoices.com which hosts a variety of activities to engage the user. With the support of the community of Chapel Island, the Potlotek Education Office, the Chapel Island Band Council, Eastern Woodlands Publishing and with the monetary support of the Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq, We are proud to offer an interactive CDrom and Book teaching the Mi'kmaw language. This interactive combination is intended to provide an interactive means of learning the Mi'kmaw alphabet, the four core sounds as well as diphthongs.
