Potlotek’s Finance Department is responsible for managing the community’s budget and ensuring funds are allocated effectively. The department oversees all spending related to both band operations and Potlotek’s commercial ventures. This essential role supports the administration’s daily operations, government programs, economic development projects, and capital improvements.

Over the coming months, Zondra will be working closely with Amanda to learn the ins and outs of the role, ensuring a smooth and successful transition for students and families accessing post-secondary support. 🔊Mi’kmawey School Update🔊
Education Director Blayne Murray would like to share the following update on the renovations happening at Mi'kmawey School, as well as the start of the 2026/2027 school year.
"Exciting times at Mi’kmawey School! After 28 years we are finally getting renovations done to the school along with an extension. The renovations are now underway and will include new flooring throughout most of the school including the gym, finishings, new ceiling tiles, and a new PA system. The extension will provide us with additional support areas, classrooms, a learning center, along with a common area. This is something that has been in the works for sometime to help assist with our growing number of students and the needs within our community. These renovations are needed. I know that work should have started immediately prior to summer break but unfortunately that wasn’t the case as plans needed to be revised. This will cause a slight delay to the start of the 2026/2027 school year as renovations are expected to be completed on September 15, 2026. We will continue to provide updates as they become available and do our best to answer any questions you may have.
