Food Projects

Potlotek food projects work to provide reliable access to healthy, sustainable food options for our community. We’re grateful to our volunteers, with honorariums available in recognition of their efforts. Leading these initiatives is Tracie Johnson, our Food Security Coordinator, who manages essential community projects, including:

Food Bank

Open every Friday from 10am to 2pm. Everybody is welcomed. Working or not.

Weekly Food Pantry

Available at the ESSO every Thursday starting at 9am. We are often able to offer bread, milk, juice.

Meals on Wheels

Every Wednesday. You would need to register, and they will deliver the food between 12pm and 4pm.

Food Hamper

This program is monthly. There is a rotating list. You may get a hamper one month but won’t receive another until a few months later.

Potlotek Chicken Coop

We have our own community chickens. Fresh eggs are sold for $7/carton(12). The best time to get them would be Friday’s at the Foodbank.

Exciting news! The Antigonish Brain Bee is back! Register for the 2025 Antigonish Brain Bee taking place March 31st 2025 at StFX.

What is it? A fun day of learning and a neuroscience competition for students in grades 9-12 from Northeastern Nova Scotia. The winner will represent Antigonish in the virtual Canadian National Brain Bee, where they will have a chance to win a trip to Toronto to compete in the final round!
