Mi’kmaw Physical Activity Leadership (MPAL) Program
In partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage (CCTH), Potlotek First Nation has created the position of Mi’kmaw Physical Activity Leader to facilitate improvements in community physical activity. The MPAL employee will be responsible for implementing, evaluating, and revising the Potlotek Comprehensive Physical Activity Strategy as necessary.
The strategy’s aim is to raise awareness and increase participation in structured and unstructured physical activity at a local level. MPAL is responsible for increasing diverse needs and opportunities available to our community surrounding Physical Activity and Sport. MPAL will work to create strategies, policies, and initiatives that focus on social inclusion.

Potlotek’s 2024-2049 Comprehensive Community Plan envisions a thriving, united future grounded in Mi’kmaq traditions. With goals to build prosperity, improve governance, and protect the environment, this plan reflects the collective voice of the community, focusing on long-term growth and unity.
Today is National Indigenous Water Operators Day.
From our friends at www.facebook.com/watermovement.ca:
'Water is life, but for many Indigenous communities, access to clean, safe drinking water is a daily challenge. National Indigenous Water Operator Day (NIWOD) was created to honour the water operators who overcome immense obstacles to ensure their communities have access to this vital resource.
Held every year on March 21 — the day before World Water Day — NIWOD reminds us that before celebrating water, we must first celebrate those who make it safe to drink.'
